Prezista belongs
to a group of drugs which are called protease inhibitors. They are primarily
used to treat viral infections such as Hepatitis C, and (HIV). They inhibit
replication of the virus by shutting down the proteases. Prezista used together
with norvir, another anti-virus medicine has been seen to reduce the levels of
(HIV) in the blood, and keep it at a lowered level. One way of
taking prezista, and norvir is a single dose of 400mg of prezista, and 100mg of norvir one time a day, and do not forget these pills must be taken with a meal, or at least a full glass of milk. This is the treatment for someone who has never been on any anti-virus drug before, and shows no resistance to prezista.

The other dose
is for people who have one or more (HIV) mutations that are resistant to
prezista. The dose for these people is two doses of 300mg of prezista, along
with two 100mg doses of norvir to be taken at breakfast and then again with an
evening meal. It is very important that this medicine is taken with food as it
helps with the time release to maintain a constant level of the drug in the
patient's body.
Prezista is a
good choice for people who have an HIV infection, and who have been on other
protease inhibitors that have not worked for them. The United States Department
of Health and Human services recommends prezista for use with these patients.
During Clinical trials prezista was seen as a good choice for people who did
not respond to other protease blockers especially when mixed with other (HIV)
drugs that a patients virus was not receptive to.
This is
difficult for patients who have the (HIV) virus, and have tried other drug
treatments, but can be very useful when looking at patient’s tests, and past
results, in deciding how they will react while being treated with prezista. For more free health tips about prezista visit health tips online
